ARTICLE 1/29/2007

I haven't written since last year, but I haven't done much since then.  I finished the year playing well in San Antonio with a 3rd, but then played lousy in the Schwab Cup which was for the top 30 money winners at the end of the year.  That was very disappointing, and partly it was from my back hurting which was really unusual, and thankfully it hasn't bothered me since.  Oh well, I am a Senior Golfer now!

I didn't do much this off season except for catch up on things at home, and enjoy some great Holiday eating.  Unfortunately it has caught up with me, but now it's time to get back to work.  I came to Hawaii with my family, and my brother and his family on Dec. 27th and we are now heading back home to San Diego after a great trip to the islands.

You may have noticed, but I have 808Golf.com on my golf shirt sleeve and it's for a web site that has everything you need to know about Hawaii golf.  Sean Lunasco runs the site and is nice enough run my web site and one for Parker McLachlin who is on the PGA Tour this year.

I actually caddied for Parker again this year in the Sony Open before I played my first two tournaments.  Last year I caddied for him, he made the cut, and then we both came in 2nd the next week, so I thought it would be a good thing to do again.  Unfortunately, this time Parker played well, but couldn't get many putts to drop and missed the cut by one shot.  This did let me watch the Charger playoff game on Sunday, and that was the most disappointing game I've ever seen.

I played my first tournament of the year at Hualalai on the Big Island which was just a fantastic resort and such a well run fun tournament.  I hit the ball pretty well, but putted lousy and came in 30th with rounds of 70-70-70.

Then I went to the North Shore of Oahu and shot 70 again the first round!  I then finally got hot and broke the string with a 69 and then finished with a 67 and tied for 10th.  I finally putted better the last round after figuring out the night before that I wasn't turning my shoulders through but was pushing them out of the hole.  I was 6 under for 12, and was kind of disappointed I couldn't finish a little better, but I missed some shots the last few holes.

I'm working still on trying to make a more level turn and when I do I'm hitting a lot of good shots.  I'm going to keep working on it, and I have the AT&T coming up after a week off where I play with Bill Murray.  I think we're going to do well this year, and I hope he's still getting a lot of shots!

I then go to Florida where we have the Outback in Tampa which has the same format at the AT&T with a pro and amateur as a team, and Bill is going to go down and play in that this year.  He should be in a good mood if his beloved Bears can shut down the Colts and win the Super Bowl.  He's going to the game, and I would have been tempted if the best team in football was there (Chargers), but their not.

Then I have the ACE group Classic in Naples.  We sure do get to go to a lot of nice places on this tour.

This was my first real true off season this past year, and I got pretty lazy which I'm paying for now.  I worked out consistently last year for months before winning at Pebble Beach in September, and looking back it really paid off.  I lost weight, felt great, and my golf got better.

I need to get back to that and plan to do that this coming month.  I hope I can have a good report next month.  Well, take care everyone and God bless you all.  I know he's sure blessed the Simpson family and we're so grateful.

Aloha,

Scott
